About Greg Morehead
Family, Seniors, Youth, Community, Economic Development
The motivation that drives Gregory Morehead fuels all who comes across this visionary. He is a self motivated entrepreneur who overthrows obstacles in his ascent to success.
Born in 1977, Greg grew up in Mt Vernon, NY, an area populated with African Americans who allowed the pressures of life to weaken them. Many people resorted to the use of drugs and violence. Undaunted by relics of life, he faithfully attended his local church, which laid the foundation for the exceptional values and discipline that he still exhibits today.
These values have not only shaped his moral standards in the community, but have bred stability and love in his family. Greg is a firm believer that charity begins at home, and no amount of success will compromise his devotion and responsibility to his family.
Married at the age of 23, confident in his wife’s love for God and shared values, they began their family, which now consists of 3 boys. Together they have instilled their values into their children first, and work hard to maintain these values in every business, leadership, and life venture they pursue.
At the age of 24, Greg transitioned from the stability of being a working class citizen, into starting his first business entitled ‘GM Music Management’. This company has led him to tour and perform with Musical Artists as a drummer such as Carl Thomas, Ginuwine, Donnel Jones, Total, Mary J. Blige, Case, Chingy, Bobby Valentino, Ludacris, and Kelly Price. Greg has performed at various arenas and concert halls such as Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, the Beacon Theater, The Tribeca Theater, Late Show with David Letterman, The Apollo Theater, Late Show with Jay Leno, XM Live, numerous colleges across the world, Saturday Night Live, Staples Center, BET Live just to name a few.
This success propelled him to launch other businesses that he envisioned. In 2003, Greg and his wife, Shanah started their own nationwide credit restoration and financial planning company entitled, ‘G&R Business Group’. In 2005, his company "AdwareDoc" was on track, sending out technicians to homes and businesses, cleaning out computers from Adware, Spyware, and Viruses.
Greg saw an opportunity to run for Alderman/City Councilman back in February of 07. He campaigned for two months in his Dixwell community stressing the point of bringing back the respect of GOD and UNITY to Ward 22. He was so adamant about those two points because of his upbringing around “family” and his faith in God. He maintains that through life's trials and tribulations, ups and downs, that he would not be at the point in his life right now if it wasn't for his relationship with God.
Greg talked to residents about issues that were plaguing the Ward and before the election was able to rectify various longstanding concerns. With his family by his side, during the two months of campaigning, met with over 1,000 residents including residents of the four Yale college dorms located in the Ward.
Greg won that special election back in April by a landslide. His total votes were 243. He had three opponents back then and their totals were 108, 57, and 31. After he was sworn in, the following month got to work on Unifying the Ward. He distributes monthly to the Ward a calendar of events so that the residents can stay informed about what's going on in the Ward. He also puts out a quarterly newsletter so that the residents can see what has transpired and what is to come. Ward 22 is a Ward that is on the move.

On September 11, 2007, a Democratic Primary was held and once again because of his willingness to see the Ward succeed and ability to bring about change, Greg garnered 245 votes. He had two opponents in this election and they had 114, and 31 votes. Greg truly has a heart for “All” of the people in Ward 22 and the ability to bring his vision about for our ward to pass.
Along with being a politician, Greg is a much sought after motivational speaker at high schools, colleges, religious organizations, and correctional facilities. His message is clear; a person is not defined by their circumstance, but rather their drive, desire, and personal relationship with God. With his strong work ethics, outstanding personality, and extraordinary talent, Greg’s potential is unlimited.
