Since April 2007, here are some things that Alderman Greg Morehead has accomplished...

Started a monthly Calendar with all of the events and activities that go on in our Ward so that ALL residents will be informed about what is going on.

He started a quarterly newsletter so that residents can know what has been going on and what is to come in the future with our Ward. (next newsletter will come out Oct 2007)

He went to Hartford to Rally for Universal Health Care (Healthcare for Everyone)

Met with Seniors in the senior buildings to address issues that they were experiencing with their community rooms being closed, and their activities coordinator no longer being in a position to delegate activities for them.  Greg advocated on their behalf and as of August 2007, the community rooms are back open and as of August 2007 also, they have a full time activities coordinator to plan and orchestrate various activities for them.

Had a Unity Block Party where prizes were given out and FREE food to bring EVERYONE in our Ward together for a day of Family Fun.

Engaged our Youth by having Open Mic Nights at Wexler Grant School where he featured various residents of our Ward by having them sing, dance, rap, recite poetry, or play an instrument.  The youth said they had nothing to do by way of programs and activities in our Ward, Greg started these ongoing Open Mic Nights from their outcry.

Greg was the keynote speaker at Betsy Ross Micro Society in New Haven for Graduating youth to let them know about Choices for them and making the right choice as they get older and gave them more information on becoming involved at a young age in politics.

Flew to Ohio to visit an Arts and Technology Center so that one similar can be replicated in our Ward for youth and adults.

Advocated for the next phase of housing on Ashmun Street to be built this year.  Groundbreaking will start at the end of September where 12 New Energy Efficient Homes will be built.

Each month, he takes a ride through the Ward with our L.C.I. Neighborhood Specialist and addresses all issues with abandoned cars, blighted property, and overgrown weeds and grass in homes and lots so that our Ward can look better.

Started and completed a Greenspace project for the grass circle on his block where Yale Students and others came out for Free and donated their time in beautifying the circle with flowers etc.  He was able to also get flowers for Free for the homeowners on his block and grass seed, fertilizer, mulch, etc.

Held meetings and gatherings for ALL residents to get their input on additional services for the Ward and ways that we can improve the quality of life for everyone.

Has has rectified countless other issues from Tree removal for residents that the city didn’t cover to getting various street lights replaced and brighter bulbs to much more.
